We offer some activity on every day of the week starting with early morning training sessions starting around 5-30am and ending the day with various evening training sessions split between our two home pools at The Dolphin Pool and The Rossmore Leisure Centre pool.

Expectations, Swimmers and Parents

Not all swimmers will become Olympic Champions, but many can do extremely well at club and school level. A number do well at county championships and those with full dedication and ability go on to national competition.

Poole Swimming Club aims to help each swimmer achieve their own set goals. Such achievements only result from a lot of hard work from the individual swimmer, with encouragement and help from the coach and other poolside staff as well as support from parents. It is expected that decisions made by the coach regarding selection and training schedules be respected without question.

We encourage all people who join us to swim to the very best of their ability, to promote a wish to work hard for the improvement of skills and speed as well as encouraging a sense of fair play at all levels. Our coaching and teaching staff will respect members aims and wishes and give all encouragement possible.

We aim to respect the wishes and physical makeup of each person but expect loyalty to the club and a training/teaching programme.

It is hoped (expected!) that the parents of our younger swimmers will also participate in club activities. This does not mean swimming! We need adults to help on poolside with such jobs as taking registers, setting up and clearing away equipment, lane end supervision, gala official etc. We do offer training for all these jobs.

If all parents offered to help once or twice a year, if not on a regular, weekly basis, the club will run smoothly for our swimmers. ( But, please, if you do help on the poolside, please wear suitable clothing and do not wear your outside shoes!)

We are a truly volunteer club. Our part time coach is the only person who is paid to cover (part of) the time he gives to us.
